Here is an example of why we maintain that decorating a home to live and decorating it to sell
are not necessarily the same things. The home had been listed for a few months and no offers. And it
was gorgeous! So, after the house was vacated we made some changes. We switched the living and
dining room areas bringing in furniture slightly smaller scaled -- and scaled back -- and stylish but
more generic. We removed some of the window treatments as well. Whether or not you prefer one
style over the other, you have to admit we created an open airy feel that better showcases the home,
and is more likely to help sell the house, whereas before the opulence was making it
seem stuffy!
